Mikel Ordered Back to Lyn

FIFA's ruling on Mikel Obi's contract status will be come as welcome news to both Obi's club Lyn Oslo and Manchester United.  FIFA released a statement that Mikel is still contracted to Norwegian club Lyn and return to the club immediately.  Lyn always claimed that the player was contracted to them when he sold to Manchester United.  FIFA's ruling confirms this and the implications will please Lyn and Manchester United who claim that they concluded a deal to transfer the player to Manchester United.

Mikel has not played for Lyn since his leaving the club just before the youth world cup in Holland.  He refused to return to Lyn after the tournament concluded maintained throughout that time that he wanted to be a Chelsea player.  He claims that Lyn and Manchester United forced him into agreeing to the deal.

Manchester United maintain that the player was happy to join the club and has signed a contract that makes him a Manchester United player.  They maintain that the player was not forced at any time into signing a contract.

Lyn will be happy to have the player back in their squad because of his undeniable talent.  Manchester will will see this development as a positive sign that FIFA will eventually find that the player is bound contractually to the Red Devils.

So far, Mikel's agent John Shittu has not said much about the recent developments.  He did mention that they would be appealing FIFA's ruling.
