Yobo Blunder Hands Win to Manchester United

It was a tale of one thankful manager and one unhappy manager on Saturday as Manchester United won the season opening match against Everton.  Nigerian defender Joseph Yobo was in the middle Everton fans' misery as he handed an easy goal to former Everton wonderkid Wayne Rooney.

Manchester United dominated the match from the start of the match with Ruud van Nistelrooy, Wayne Rooney and new signing Park Ji Sung all coming close to scoring.  Dutchman van Nistelrooy scored from a John O'Shea cross just before the end of the first half.

With all of Manchester United's dominance, they were only one goal up, leaving a chance for Everton to get back into the match.  This all changed 27 seconds into the second half when Joseph Yobo shockingly passed the ball across his own 18 yard box and directly into the path of Wayne Rooney.  Rooney gladly accepted the free opportunity and put the ball past the goalkeeper.  With Rooney's opportunistic goal, any chance of Everton making a comeback was effectively over.  Everton was in shock for the rest of the game and were lucky not to give further goals to the menacing Manchester United.
