First Chinese Newspaper in Nigeria

Signs are everywhere of China's growing influence in Africa and especially West Africa.  On Sunday, August 7, West African United Business Weekly, the first newspaper in Chinese was issued in Lagos.
The news paper is being distributed by West African United Multimedia Company is specifically intended to meet the needs of the growing Chinese economy within Nigeria and other West African nations.  The population of Chinese nationals in West Africa has been growing and the influence of China on the Economy has been evident, much to the despair of Western countries.
The newspaper begins distribution in Nigeria and will later be distributed in other West African countries.  Also, it is only published once a week.  However, it will become a bi-weekly production when the time is right, and eventually become a daily newspaper.
While western countries like the United States and England continue to shy from economic partnerships with Nigeria, the Chinese have made great strides with their effort to work with Nigeria.  Several Chinese firms have brought their business to Nigeria and along with them, their workers.  It is now estimated that 50,000 Chinese people live in Nigeria.
