Brazil seeking economic cooperation with Nigeria

Brazilian government representatives in Lagos this week have stated their country's desire to collaborate with Nigeria in the agriculture sector.
Brazil's Minister of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade, Mr. Luiz Fernando said in Lagos on Tuesday that Brazil could help Nigeria to increase its agricultural production.  He also admitted that his country had a 3 billion dollar trade deficit in the area of agriculture.
Brazil is the world's largest exporter of coffee, orange juice, sugar and ethanol.  The Brazilian official noted that Brazil is also the world's second largest exporter of soybean, beef, and chicken.  The Brazilian minister suggested that Brazil could help Nigeria to improve by helping it reach the same economic revolution that Brazil experienced.  He sees areas where the two nations can  improve living standards.
According to Mr. Fernando, there are a number of things that are common between Nigeria and Brazil.  They are both in leadership positions in their own regions and both have great potential.  He says that his country is prepared to show Nigeria the way forward both in the Agricultural and Power sectors improving trade between the two countries, so that both can continue their leadership roles within their regions.
